WINTER PARK, Fla. – Rollins women's soccer secured its first home win of the season on Thursday, defeating Tusculum 1-0 at the Spur.
The Tars controlled the pace early, holding possession through the opening minutes. The pressure quickly paid off as
Gianna Babusci played a ball up the sideline before finding
Gabby Boyd across the middle. Boyd took a couple of touches before finding the back of the net with her left foot, giving Rollins its first home goal of the 2026 season.
Rollins kept the momentum, consistently winning back possession from the Pioneers and working the ball into the attacking third. The Tars created several more chances throughout the remainder of the half, but couldn't convert.
Tusculum found its next good look at goal in the 27th minute, but
Lauren Mehos laid out to deny the scoring opportunity and keep Rollins in front. The lead held through the half as the Tars continued to apply pressure on the Pioneers heading into the break.
Rollins found another look to open the second half of play, but couldn't connect.
The Pioneers seemed to find their Florida legs from there, managing to hold possession a bit more to open the frame. Rollins remained firm in its defensive half, continuing to win back the ball and limit Tusculum's opportunities.
A near own goal from Tusculum almost doubled the Rollins advantage in the 63rd minute, but the Pioneers narrowly escaped as the Tars continued to create pressure in the attacking third.
The remainder of the half was played primarily in the midfield, with both sides battling for possession. Neither team was able to find much space in the closing minutes, allowing Rollins to carry the 1-0 advantage to the final whistle.
The Tars improve to 3-0 on the season and will return to the pitch on Saturday, September 5 at 7:00 pm when they host No. 11 Ashland at Cahall-Sandspur Field.
