WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 19, 2017) – Winners of three straight to close the regular season, the Rollins women’s tennis team heads into Sunshine State Conference Tournament play as the No. 5 seed and will play No. 4 Nova Southeastern in the first round.

Eckerd College will serve as host of the event at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida April 20-22. The Tars and Sharks are slated for a 3:30 p.m. start in round one with the semifinals scheduled for April 21 and final on Saturday, April 22 at 3:30 p.m.

NSU bested the Tars 5-4 on the road in the regular season. The Sharks took a 2-1 lead after doubles and won the top-three singles matches to secure the win. Teresa Kaiser and Savanna Fuller won at No. 3 doubles and both later scored singles victories. Alexandra Borg posted a three-set win at No. 4 singles.

Fuller and Kaiser make up a formidable doubles tandem, going 11-6 overall and 5-3 in SSC play during the regular season. Fabiana Vitanza and Borg played saw the majority of time in the No. 1 flight and went 7-4 overall with a 3-2 mark in the SSC.

Vitanza went 7-11 at the Tars No. 1 singles player. Kaiser posted the best overall record with a 12-6 mark and 5-4 record in conference play.

The ITA has Rollins ranked 27th in the nation and eighth in the South Region while the Tars are No. 7 in the latest NCAA South Region ranking.

The winner of Rollins and Nova Southeastern will meet either top-seed Barry or eight-seed Florida Tech in the semifinals. Fans can follow all of the action at SunshineStateConference.com.
