(Senior): Lau was an
integral part of the Tars starting lineup appearing in all but one match this
season...posted career-highs in kills (15 vs. Armstrong Atlantic, 9/14) and total
attacks (39 vs. Flagler, 9/15) while matching her career-high five blocks...hit a
season-high .667 on two occasions...ranked 15th in the SSC with a .249
attack percentage...recorded the most kills in a season throughout her collegiate
career with 201.
2011 (Junior): Saw action in 23 matches for the Tars earning a starting spot in eight...recorded a career-high 14 kills against Barry (11/5) on a season-high 24 swings for a .500 hitting percentage...dug four balls against Tampa (11/9) for a season-best...averaged 1.23 kills, 0.23 digs, and 0.21 blocks a set.
2010 (Sophomore): Appeared in 28 matches for the Tars, while earning a starting spot in the rotation on 17 occasions...notched a career-high three assists against Armstrong Atlantic (09/10)...posted a season-high eight kills against Palm Beach Atlantic in the final regular season match of the season...recorded four blocks in three matches, while recording at least one block in 21 matches...hit .600 against Warner University (09/07) in the Tars season home opener...picked up two service aces against UC-Colorado Springs (09/04)...collected 82 kills, 33 digs, and 42 blocks - eight solo and 34 assisted...ranked fourth amongst the squad in blocks, sixth in kills, eighth in service aces, and 10th in digs...averaged 0.96 kills, 0.49 blocks, and 0.39 digs per set.
2009 (Freshman): Split time at the right side and middle blocker positions…appeared in 33 matches and started 12…fourth on the team in blocks with 47…tallied 116 kills, which averaged out to 1.16 per set…set a career-high in blocks with five against Florida Southern (9/19/09)…registered one match of double-digit kills with 10 against Tampa (10/30/09)…against Georgian Court (9/13/09) finished with a .692 attacking percentage with nine kills on 13 attacks.
High School: Attended Gunn High School in Palo Alto, Calif…primarily used as a middle blocker where she guided the Titans to the postseason all four years of high school…team claimed the Central Valley Invatational…was named to the all-district team and second team all-area as a junior and senior…earned the Coaches Award as a senior…also played for Vision Volleyball, Hang Ten Volleyball and Citybeach Volleyball.
Personal: Born Jillian Rosemary Lau, Nov. 22, 1990 in Redwood City…parents Bruce and Honore Lau…two siblings Rachel (29) and Kaelin (26)…sister Rachel played volleyball for the University of Wyoming…enjoys knitting and reading…credits her sister Rachel for having the biggest influence in her life…describes her biggest sports thrill when she blocks an opposing hitters attack.
