WINTER PARK, Fla. (November 11, 2011)- The Rollins men's soccer team could not overcome an early two-goal deficit against the Barry Buccaneers, Friday evening, falling 3-1. The defeat ends the Tars quest to get back to the national championship and will setup a rematch of the Sunshine State Conference semi-final match between Lynn and Barry on Sunday.

Barry struck first on the scoreboard first in the 14th minute with Kendall Sealy receiving a wide-open goal after Keneil Baker and the backline had a miscommunication, which resulted in the first tally of the game. The Bucs were not done as they put another tally on the board in the 30th minute to stretch the lead to two goals before halftime.

Rollins pressed to cut the deficit, but were turned away by Johnny Rodrigues and the Buccaneer defense, as the game would go to intermission with Barry up by two.

Rollins came out of the break energized and looked to apply pressure on the Bucs, but the defense held strong, turning away the attack of the Tars. The Tars kept the attack on and were rewarded as Barry committed a hand ball in the box, which resulted in a penalty kick for Rollins. Matt Bauchle converted on the chance as he delivered a rocket to the lower corner past the outstretched arms of Johnny Rodrigues.

The Tars would turn up the attack even more to try and collect the equalizer, but were denied by the Barry defense. With 19 seconds left in the game the Bucs put another goal to the back of the net to push the lead back to two and sealed the victory for Barry.

Lynn and Barry will matchup on Sunday at 3p.m. to see who will earn the spot in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals.
