LAKELAND, Fla. (April 11, 2012)- The third-ranked Rollins women's lacrosse team took another step in keeping their undefeated season alive with a 16-10 victory over No.15 Florida Southern, Wednesday evening. All that remains on the schedule for the Blue and Gold are two road games against Regis at the end of the month. Rollins keeps a perfect 14-0 record, while Florida Southern falls to 10-4.

The Tars started out strong and built up a 7-5 lead at the end of the first half by virtue of a strong middle half of the opening stanza. The Mocs came out firing and took a 3-1 lead, which would be the only lead Florida Southern would have against Rollins. The Tars responded with a 6-2 scoring run to end the first half with a two goal lead. Erica Pagliarulo and Sophie Townsend provided the spark in the opening frame with the duo tallying two goals apiece and received help from Mo Imel and Anna Townsend as each tallied a goal to round out the first half scoring.

Florida Southern scored the first goal of the second half, but that seemed to ignite the Tars and propelled them to score five unanswered goals to break the game open, establishing a lead they would not surrender. The later part of the second half saw the teams take the battle towards each other, with the Tars outscoring the Mocs, 4-3 in the waning stages of the second half to preserve the 16-10 victory.

Sophie Townsend finished the game strong with four goals and one assist, while Pagliarulo and Cat Kelley chipped in with three tallies apiece. Anna Townsend and Ginevra Czech also had strong performances with the duo collecting two goals of their own, while Tori Snow and Imel collected one goal apiece.

Elyse De Lisle proved again that she is a formidable part of the Rollins defense with another strong outing. She racked up six saves and only allowed 10 goals to the heralded Moc offense. The defensive specialists of Courtney Bianculli and Katie Palasz also helped limit the chances Florida Southern had at the cage.

Rollins will be back in action when they travel west to Colorado with a pair of matchups against Regis on April 27 and 29.
