WINTER PARK, Fla. (June 19, 2012) - Former Rollins baseball standout Kevin Mager will start a new chapter in his baseball career as he signed a contract with the Boston Red Sox. The Middletown, N.J. native was assigned to the Gulf Coast League (Rookie) Red Sox on Monday, June 18.
"Kevin is a very talented baseball player. My coaching staff and I wish him the best in his professional baseball career," said head coach Jon Sjogren.
Mager concluded his career at Rollins ranking in the top-20 in multiple statistical categories in the Tars' record books. During his junior campaign, he also became the single-season leader in triples in a season with nine, and in his three years at Rollins, was a two-time All-Sunshine State Conference selection. This past season, he led the squad in on base percentage, runs scored, RBI, walks; second in slugging percentage, third in hits and doubles, and fourth in home runs.
