WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 3, 2017) – After a slow start, Rollins completed a six-run comeback for a walk-off win in the bottom of the ninth inning. Mike Purcell smashed a single over the centerfielder’s head with the bases loaded, to score the tying and go ahead run.

With Wednesday’s walk-off victory, Tars improve the 13-4 on the season, and 4-1 in Baseball Week contests. Concordia falls to 0-9 on the season with three more games left to play during Baseball Week.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

·      Concordia jumped out to an early lead, scoring three runs with two outs in the second inning. The Clippers took advantage of a couple of free bases, wild pitches and timely hitting by Jaylin Martinez.

·      The Tars got one back in the bottom of the third after a triple by Peter Nicoletto who was later driven in by right fielder, Nick Breen.

·      The Clippers lead was extended in the next two innings, again taking advantage of walks issued by Tars pitchers and four timely hits to score four runs. At the end of the fifth, Concordia led the Tars 7-1.

·      Rollins continued to battle in the sixth inning, when the top of the Tars order had three hits in a row to put two runners across the plate, making the score 7-3.

·      Christopher Corbett showed off a little pop with a solo shot in the eighth inning, letting the Tars pull within one run.

·      A bottom of the ninth inning rally had Rollins with bases loaded for most of the inning, allowing Mike Purcell to deliver a hard-hit ball to the center field wall to score the winning run. Tars win 8-7.
