WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 11, 2017) – The Tars emerged victorious, defeating Queens (NY), the second ranked team in the east region, by a score of 6-3 on Saturday afternoon. Rollins improves to 5-4 on the year. The Knights fall to 3-2 in their young 2017 campaign.
The Tars took two of the three doubles matches. Ahmed Albitar and Daniel Ferl were victorious out of the first position, defeating Sharvill Nawghre and Roman Laga, the top-ranked doubles pair in the east region, by a score of 8-6. Sami Kirberg and Ziad Melhaoui cruised out of the third spot, taking an 8-4 win.
The Tars captured four singles win to seal the victory. Francesco Racanelli easily dispelled Lucas Martinez, the No. 12 player in the east region, 6-3, 6-0. Albitar made it two for two on the day over Nawghre, the No. 5 singles player in the east, with a 6-4, 6-1 win. Melhaoui and Ferl each recorded wins out of the fifth and sixth spots respectively, Melhaoui is straight sets, while Ferl retired Cosme Jubera in three.
The Tars reach the halfway point in their 12 match home stand with a battle against New Jersey Institute of Technology on Monday, March 13. First serve is set for 10:30 a.m.
