Tars Turned Back by Florida Southern on Senior Day
WINTER PARK, Fla. (January 23, 2010) – The Rollins women’s swim team enjoyed picture perfect weather outside, but it was gloomy in the pool as the Tars fell to Florida Southern 137-67 on Senior Day, Saturday.
Leandra Lima was the Tars lone winner, taking first thin the 100 yard backstroke in 1:02.25. Teammate Stephanie Decker was right on her heels in second with a time of 1:02.93.
Lima was runner up in the 200 yard IM in 2:15.53 and swam a leg of the Tars runner-up 200 yard freestyle relay team, joining Decker, Jenny Nilson and Samantha Sigaty to post a time of 1:44.22. Decker also had a part in Rollins’ 200 yard medley runner-up finish, teaming with Megan Mattingly, Sara McFadden and Anna Roessler to finish in 1:59.69.
Nilson earned a pair of runner-up, individual finishes on the day, taking second in the 1000 yard freestyle in 11:03.20 and second in the 500 yard freestyle with a tie of 5:29.14.
McFadden added a runner-up finish in the 100 yard butterfly in 1:02.11 while Jessica Spiegel was second in the 200 yard freestyle in 2:02.39.
Rollins will take the next week off before getting back in the pool at Saint Leo on Saturday, February 6.
