Four Tars Named NGCA All-American Scholars
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (July 6, 2010) – Four Rollins women’s golfers were honored for their work on the links and in the classroom, earning the distinction of National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-American Scholars.
Elin Marscdottier and Fabia Rothenfluh were each first-time recipients while Joanna Coe and Brianna Seo were named to the list for the third time in their careers.
Marcsdottier played in nine events in her first season with the Tars, posting a 79.19 stroke average. She finished in the top-10 twice, taking seventh at the NSU Shark Invitational and tying for fourth at the Ross Resorts Invitational. The International Business major earned a perfect 4.0 GPA in each semester last year.
Rothenfluh saw action in all but one tournament and was third-best on the team with a 77.60 stroke average. She finished in the top-10 three times while leading the Tars to victory at the Hawaii-Dr. Donnis Invitational, finishing tied for third. Rothenfluh is carrying a 3.89 GPA in Economics and earned a perfect 4.0 in the Spring 2010 semester.
Coe, who was also a First-Team All-America selection, finished seventh or better in each of the Tars’ 12 events, including three runners-up and three victories. She won the NCAA Super Regional Championship and was third at the NCAA Division II National Championship. The Politics major qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links this summer and also participated in the LPGA Shop Rite Classic.
Seo posted a 77.78 stroke average playing in every event for Rollins last season. She picked up three, top-10 finishes, including tying for fourth at the NCAA Super Regional Championship. Also in her third season on the All-America Scholar list along with Coe, Seo is carrying a 3.73 GPA in International Business.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 66% of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year. Rollins and Barry each boasted four selections to lead the Sunshine State Conference.
