Rollins has 84 Student-Athletes Named to Spring Commissioner’s Honor Roll
WINTER PARK, Fla. (July 9, 2010) – A total of 84 Rollins student-athletes spanning 12 different sports were named to the Sunshine State Conference Spring 2010 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
To be eligible for the Commissioner’s Spring Honor Roll, a student-athlete must post a minimum grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00 for the spring semester. Participants in the sports of men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s tennis, softball, baseball, women’s rowing, men’s and women’s swimming, and men’s lacrosse were eligible for the honor roll.
Having won 74 national championships since the league was founded in 1975, the SSC’s student-athletes have also proven to be successful in the classrooms. The NCAA announced earlier this year that the Sunshine State Conference led all 22 Division II conferences with an Academic Success Rate of 85 percent.
Florida Southern led the way for the SSC with 86 honorees, followed by the Tars’ 86. Saint Leo and Tampa each had 76 on the list while Eckerd boasted 68.
The 2009-10 sports season was one of Rollins’ most successful in school history as teams won four Sunshine State Conference Championships and swept the SSC Mayor’s Cup All-Sports Trophies.
