A familiar face to Rollins basketball and joining the coaching staff for the 2011-12 season is Joe Hayes. The former high school and community college coach has been a mainstay at Tom Klusman basketball camps and will be assisting the Tars in all aspects of the program this season.

Hayes started his career as an assistant coach at Tallahassee Community College from 1993-91, and then took over the Hollywood Christian High School program for the 1997-98 season. He returned to TCC for the next two years before finding success as the helm of the Apalachiola High School program. From 2001-06, Hayes rolled up a record of 131-22, earning five district titles and making two state finals appearances. In 2002, he was named the FHSAA 1A Coach of the Year.

After Apalachiole, Hayes took over at Bishop Moore High School in Orlando, posting a record of 44-37 from 2008-11.

Hayes was an All-State point guard at Atwater Academy and graduated from Florida State with a B.S. in History in 1997.
