No. 9 Tampa Too Much for the Tars

TAMPA, Fla. (January 14, 2012) - Grace Alexander picked up a win in the 1000-yard freestyle, but Rollins was upended by ninth-ranked Tampa 114-77 in Sunshine State Conference swimming on Saturday.

Alexander stopped the clock at 10:59.93 in the meet's most grueling event, while Jenny Nilson was second in 11:10.01.

Christine Bianco took runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:03.98 and teamed with Leandra Lima, Katie Gentsch and Samantha Sigaty to finish third in the 200-yard medley in 1:58.62.

Lima added a third place finish in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:04.62. Jessica Spiegel finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in 58.14, Sigaty was fourth in the Rollins will be back in the pool Saturday, Jan. 21, hosting Daytona State in its final home meet of the season. Competition is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
