SALISBURY, N.C. (February, 20 2012)- The eighth-ranked Rollins women's lacrosse team ended its first road trip of the year with a victory over first-year program Catawba, 22-2. Rollins improves to 2-0 on the season before a huge match-up with third-ranked Limestone next weekend.

Rollins used another balanced offensive performance with 10 different players tallying a goal and six tallying multi-goal efforts. Tori Snow led all Tars with four goals, followed Anna Townsend, Kelly Thayer and Sarah Ann Showell with three goals apiece.

Rollins broke out of the gates in the first half with five unanswered goals and turned in a tough defensive performance in treacherous conditions. The Indians did not register a goal until the eight minute mark when Ebony Mills collected the first goal in program history.

Rollins would answer with another goal after the Mills score, but she stormed down the field to collect her second tally of the afternoon. This would be all the scoring the Indians could muster against the lock-down defense of the Tars.

The second half proved to be a bit more difficult for both teams as the cold temperatures and the increasing amounts of precipitation proved to hamper the flow of the game. The Tars outscored the Indians 6-0 to increase the lead to 20.

Rollins used a trio of goalies to thwart the Indians offense, collecting three saves on the afternoon. The defense stepped up and forced 24 turnovers and limited the time the Indians spent in the attacking end.

The Tars offense has been firing on all cylinders early in the season as Rollins has scored a combined 53 goals, while allowing 15 goals to their opponents.

Rollins will enter the next weekend's challenge against No.3 Limestone with momentum and confidence. The Tars ended last season with a convincing win over the Saints, 9-3.

The Tars will travel to Gaffney on February 25 to face the Saints. Fans can tune into RollinsSports.com for all the latest news and information Rollins athletics.
