LAKELAND, Fla. (February 22, 2012)- The Rollins men's lacrosse team dropped a tough decision against Florida Southern, Wednesday night, 14-8. The Tars fall to 0-3 on the season with all three losses coming on the road. Rollins will look to ignite their season with their home opener this weekend.

The offense started out slow on both sides with each team netting one goal in the opening 15 minutes. Weather was a factor with rain falling creating difficult conditions for both sides.

The Mocs scored five times in the second period, while the Tars tallied two goals in the 15 minutes prior to halftime. Florida Southern hit the break with a 6-3 lead, which proved to be too much for the Tars to overcome.

The final two periods of the game would see the Tars outscored by a total of three goals and combined with a slow start, led to the final score of 14-8.

Rollins used five different players that collected goals with Taylor White, Oliver Moore and Connor Galvin collecting two goals apiece. Will Diamond and Stephen DeFlumeri also notched a goal apiece, while Peter Harvey, John Herbert, Chuck Magid and White notched assists.

Harvey again enjoyed a successful night in the faceoff department, tallying 12 wins in 18 attempts to help the Tars control possession.

Andrew Sheerin was tested early and often, mustering 10 saves on the night and was instrumental in keeping the Tars within striking distance.

Rollins will head home for their home opener when they welcome Florida Tech on Saturday at 1 p.m.
