WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 29, 2012) - Rollins and Florida Southern were tied at the half, but the Mocs caught fire in the second frame and bounced the Tars out of the Sunshine State Conference Tournament Wednesday, 77-63.

Brett Chance led Rollins (16-11) with 16 points behind a 4-for-6 performance from long range. Myk Brown added 13 points and eight rebounds while Dave Diakite netted 12.

Seth Evans was a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line and poured in 27 points to pace Florida Southern (18-9). Brett Baily chipped in 16 with Kevin Capers adding 13 points off the bench.

The Mocs shot 63 percent in the second half and 49 percent (26-53) on the night while the Tars hit 44 percent (20-46). Rollins earned a 31-26 edge on the glass, but committed 19 turnovers to just eight by FSC.

Rollins was a perfect 15-of-15 from the free throw line while FSC hit 16-of-21.

Rollins stumbled coming out of the gate, slipping into a 12-3 hole after the first seven minutes. The Mocs led 20-9 at the 7:39 mark before the Tars came alive with a 17-6 run and led 26-24 after a Brown triple in the final minute of the half.

Capers hit a runner with 18 seconds left in the frame, tying the score at 26 going into intermission.

Southern opened up the second half the same as the first, building a 38-30 lead at the 14:25 mark. The Tars chipped away as Chris Uhle got hot from long range and pulled Rollins to within 47-43 with 9:16 to play.

The Mocs rebuilt their advantage to double digits, however, and kept the Tars at bay the rest of the way, advancing to play top seed Florida Tech in the semifinals on Saturday.

The loss halts Rollins' run of two-straight Sunshine State Conference Tournament championships and trips to NCAA postseason play.
