MAITLAND, Fla. (March 4, 2012) - The Rollins men's rowing crew raced at their very own Metro Cup Regatta and took home the Team Metro Cup trophy with four top times on Saturday at Lake Maitland.

The men displayed a strong performance on the rough waters as the weather made it a little less than tolerable.

The men posted wins in the Varsity 8, Novice 8, Varsity 4 and the Novice 4 "B", beating out their opponent by a little over a minute.  With wins in the named events, the Rollins men took home the Team Metro Cup trophy.

In the Varsity 4 (Eric Pagan, Nick Pittari, Kip Zimmerman, Rob Spolsino, Ali Hakim), the men clocked a time of 7:00.3 while Central Florida registered a 8:19.8.  The four then joined Brian Burch, Tim Mazzotta, Mitch Verboncoeur, and David Rice for the Varsity 8 where they took that event in 7:16.9.

The Novice 8, comprised of coxswain Rachel Reams, John Frelinghuysen, Patrick Smith, Ben Van Der Werf, Christian Pichert, Zachary Urow, Ben Smith, Tristan Wakely, and Brad Baker, crossed the finish line in 6:54.2.

The men's Novice 4 "B" (coxswain Maggie Klein, Patrick Smith, Ben Smith, Ethan White, John Frelinghuysen) also beat out their opponent, posting a time of 7:34.9.

The Rollins men will be back in action on Saturday, March 10 as they host the Spring Break Race on the beautiful waters of Lake Maitland.
