No.10 Tars Unable to Overcome Early Deficit

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 21, 2012) - The tenth-ranked Rollins women's tennis team could not overcome No. 8 West Florida, falling 6-3, Wednesday afternoon. Rollins falls to 6-7 on the season, while West Florida improves to 9-5.

Rollins was only able to muster one victory in the doubles matches with Callie Whitlock and Stefania Tkach defeating West Florida's Hannah Durham and Luiza Sonnervig 8-6, at No. 3.

Rollins' two singles victories came in the No.1 and No.2 slots with Lisa Loft earning a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Mariana Sonnervig. The other singles victory was tallied by Ashley Rosenberg, who finished off Luiza Sonnervig 6-4, 3-6 (10). Rollins was ahead after the doubles and the first two singles matches, but battled valiantly as West Florida would outlast the Tars in the last four singles matches.

Rollins will next host West Virginia State on Thursday, March 22 in Winter Park.
