SAN ANTONIO, Texas (March 21, 2012) - Rollins couldn't match Shaw's quick start or power down low as the 15th-ranked Tars were bounced from the NCAA Division II Elite Eight semifinals, 87-71 by the Lady Bears Wednesday.

Rollins' historic season ends with a record of 28-6. The Tars became the first team in program history to claim Sunshine State Conference, SSC Tournament and NCAA South Region championships in the same season. The trip to the Final Four was the furthest any conference team had ever advanced in postseason play.

Senior Paris Moore led Rollins with 13 points and five rebounds. Ashley Jones chipped in 13 points, four rebounds and two steals.

Shaw (28-6) advances to play Ashland on Friday in the 2012 NCAA Division II National Championship. The Lady Bears saw three players record double-doubles on the night, led by Crystal Harris' 24 points and 14 rebounds off the bench. She shot 8-of-17 from the field and 8-of-8 from the stripe. Half of her rebounds came on the offensive end. Kyria Buford recorded 22 points and 10 rebounds with Aslea Williams putting up 12 points and 14 boards.

Interior play was the story of the game as Rollins was outrebounded 61-38 on the night. Shaw turned 28 offensive boards into 37 second chance points. With the Lady Bears clogging the lane, Rollins relied on its outside shot, but hit just 5-of-29 from long range.

Rollins shot 36 percent (27-74) while Shaw hit 40 percent (29-72) from the floor.

Shaw jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first four minutes and led 15-5 with 12:52 to play in the opening half. They later used an 18-2 run later in the frame to boost its advantage to 41-19.

Rollins went into the locker room down 48-30.

The Tars came out of intermission on fire and closed to within 12 with 16:25 to play. Shaw pushed its lead back to 17 at the 11:16 mark. Rollins was able to get to within 13 at the 6:09 mark, but Shaw held tough down the stretch.
