SYRACUSE, N.Y. (March 25, 2012)- The Rollins men's lacrosse team used a stellar defensive effort to slow down second-ranked LeMoyne, but did not have enough offensive firepower to get by the Dolphins, falling 5-2, Sunday afternoon. The Tars fall to 3-9 on the season, while LeMoyne improves to 7-0.

The Tars came out in the first period and were stunned by the Dolphins attack, which saw them post three goals in the opening stanza. Rollins was not able to find the back of the net, but caused havoc for the Dolphins.

After Lemoyne tallied the fourth goal of the game the Tars answered with a Stephen DeFlumeri marker with the assist coming from Chris Ross. The Tars looked like the would go into the break down two goals, but LeMoyne struck back with a goal with just six seconds left in the half.

With both teams coming out of the break after making adjustments the Tars and Dolphins would play a scoreless third period. The Dolphins held the shot advantage, outshooting the Blue and Gold, 10-3.

Rollins would head to the last frame down 5-1 and was looking to use the momentum from their strong defensive effort to generate some offense. James Libutti answered the call, 10 minutes into the fourth quarter with his first goal of the game and cut the lead to three. The Tars would not be able to muster anymore attempts on frame, but the defense was up to the task as they face nine shots and yielded zero goals.

Andrew Sheerin played all 60 minutes between the pipes for the Tars and made 10 saves on the afternoon and was instrumental in keeping the Tars within striking distance.

Rollins will travel to Salisbury, N.C. to face Catawba on March 30 and will finish with Lenoir-Rhyne on April 1 to finish out the road portion of their schedule.
