WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 28, 2012) - It was a fitting send off for the senior class of '12 as the 14^th ranked Tars swept a double header with visiting Albany State, taking game one 8-4 and then secured the sweep with an 13-0 win in five innings in game two behind a no-hitter turned in by sophomore hurler Amye McIntyre.

The day got off to a slow start as the Tars found themselves in an early 4-1 hole. Rollins took the early lead with a run in the first, courtesy of a sacrifice fly off the bat of senior Monica Meadows, but the Rams responded with four runs of their own to take the three run lead after two.

The Tars began to chip away at the deficit in the bottom the third, scoring two runs to pull within one, 4-3.

It wasn't until the fifth that Rollins would regain the lead, platting three runs on three hits and one Albany State error; one coming on an RBI single by Meadows and two more coming on an errant pickoff attempt to third that allowed Aimee Halpin as well as Meadows to come around to score.

Rollins would add two more in the sixth to put the game out of the reach. After freshman Kelsey Oonk and sophomore Hilary Brown led off the inning with back to back singles and then advanced on a sacrifice bunt by junior Hannah Lovestrand, Halpin sent a line drive up the middle to score Oonk and Brown to push the lead to 8-4.

Tars' starter Hope Bitzer (21-5) sat down the Rams in order in the seventh to secure the win, giving up four runs, three earned, on four hits in seven innings of work.

After a long layoff to celebrate the careers of five Rollins seniors, Bitzer, Meredith Foster, Lawna Hunter, Meadows, and Krista Rodden, the tars got back to business in game two.

The Tars scored at least two runs in each of their four chances at the plate, including a five run second.

Five players registered multi-hit games in game two highlighted by a Halpin's 3-3 with two doubles and three run scored.

But the real story of game two was Rollins starter, McIntyre.  The sophomore pitcher went five innings, giving up no runs on no hits with 13 of the 15 outs that were recorded coming on strikeouts. Her only blemish came in the second when she surrendered a leadoff walk to Rams pitcher Chelsea Hicks.

Rollins ends their regular season with a 40-9 record, 19-5 in conference play. They now await their fate for the regional tournament. Be sure to check RollinsSports.com for updates.
