WINTER PARK, Fla. (May 22, 2012) - After a successful 2012 season, the Rollins women's rowing team named four to the 2012 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Scholar Athlete list, it was announced Tuesday.

Placing on the CRCA Scholar Athlete list for the first time in their collegiate careers were Michelle Assaly, Seonag Doherty, Kimberly Gossard, Katy Hoyer and Andrea Micci.

Assaly (Psychology), Doherty (Economics), Gossard (Marine biology) and Hoyer (Music) are in their second season with the Tars rowing team while Micci (International business and Spanish) wraps up a four-year career at Rollins.

The five ladies were part of the Varsity 4 and Varsity 8 boats that finished fourth and first respectively at the 2012 Florida Blue SSC Rowing Championships.  They were an integral part of the women's team as they competed in seven of the eight races this season.

To be a recipient of the CRCA Scholar Athlete award, nominees had to have competed for more than two seasons, rowed in an institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boat(s) for a minimum of 75 percent and held a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher for her career.
