WINTER PARK, Fla. (June 18, 2012) - Head coach Sindee Snow and the Rollins volleyball team announce their schedule for the upcoming 2012 season.  In a schedule that features four tournaments and 10 home contests, the Tars will have much to live up to after recording back-to-back seasons with 20+ wins and a pair of second round appearances at the NCAA South Region Tournament.

The 2012 Tars will face four teams that finished in the top-25 one year ago, including Sunshine State Conference foe and national semifinalist University of Tampa.  The Spartans also topped the SSC as they only faltered once in conference play.

The Tars are coming off a 24-11 year that saw Rollins finish third in the league with an 11-4 record in conference play, which marks the most conference wins in program history.

Rollins will open up their slate at home in the friendly confines of Warden Arena as the Tars host the Rollins Invitational.  The last time Rollins hosted a tournament was back in 2009 when the Tars hosted Shepherd, Barton, Minnesota State-Mankato and Webber International.  This year's event will run from August 31-September 1.  Competing in the Rollins Invitational will be Minnesota State University Moorhead, Chestnut Hill College, Pace, California (Pa.), Eckerd and Kentucky State.

The Eckerd College Classic (September 7-8) and the AASU Pirate Classic (September 14-15) follow on the Tars' slate before Rollins enters Sunshine State Conference play the following weekend.

Rollins opens up conference play with a pair of league games as they host the Tampa Spartans on September 21 and the Eckerd Tritons on September 22.  The Tars then head to south Florida the following weekend to face Nova Southeastern on September 28 and Barry on September 29.

The Tars then return to Winter Park for another two games against Florida Southern (October 5) and Saint Leo (October 6) before heading to Melbourne for a midweek contest against the Florida Tech Panthers (October 10).

Rollins will then face the Lynn Fighting Knights to wrap up the first half of the schedule at home on October 12.  The Tars will step out of conference play as they host Flagler in another midweek contest (October 16) and will then head to Tampa for the South Region Crossover set for October 19-20.  The Tars will face Valdosta State and West Florida on the first day, followed by West Georgia the next day.  Armstrong Atlantic (October 23) is the final non-conference opponent the Tars will face during the regular season.

The Tars will then return trips to all eight SSC schools and will wrap up the season on the road in Boca Raton as they face Lynn on November 17.

New to the 2012 season will the dates for NCAA South Region Tournament.  The tournament will be pushed back one week this season and will take place the weekend after the Thanksgiving holiday on November 23-25.  For more information on the Tars volleyball team, check out the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
