WINTER PARK, Fla. (August 31, 2012) - Rollins used three different goal scorers with three others earning assists as the 20th-ranked Tars beat NAIA 24th-ranked Embry-Riddle 4-2 Friday night.
Rollins (1-0) freshmen Mark Biddinger and Walker Hume each picked up first career goals while Rob Crowley found the back of the net twice. Anthony White earned his first career victory in goal, nabbing two saves and allowing a pair of Embry-Riddle scores.
The Eagles (1-1) shocked the capacity crowd at Barker Family Stadium early as Veit Couturier scored an unassisted tally in the seventh minute.
In the 12th minute, Skyler Russell lofted a perfect free kick to Evan Greenbaum, but his header was deflected off the cross bar. Biddinger then found the loose ball and pounded it into the back of the net.
Five minutes later, Walker Hume was taken down by ERAU goalkeeper Nils Carlson in the box and earned a penalty kick. Rob Crowley took the try and beat Carlson to the left for a 2-1 Tars lead.
Couturier scored the equalizer in the 41st minute, dribbling down the left side and beating Rollins defense to a loose ball.
Hume put the Tars back on top in the 50th minute as Russell again put a free kick on frame that was headed in by the freshman. Crowley's second score closed the door on the Eagles in the 75th minute with a goal off a double assist from Alex Bisbee and Marten Mueller.
Rollins will be back in action on Monday, Sept. 3 at Flagler for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Fans can follow the action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
