DENVER, Colo. (September 03, 2012) - After failing behind early, 24th ranked Rollins used a balanced attack, four different goal scorers, to comeback and defeat Regis University, 4-2, Sunday afternoon.
The Rangers took the early 1-0 lead in the ninth minute on a goal by senior Marissa Davis before sophomore transfer Taylor Thigpen tied it up two minutes later. Thigpen collected a pass from Brenna McKee just inside the corner of the box and rifled it just out of out the diving reach of Rangers keeper Ellen Augsburger.
The Tars would add another before half when sophomore Courtney Reddig collected a loose ball in the box and buried it for her first goal of the season.
The Rangers would pull back within one in the 53rd minute when Meghan Stuart sent a perfect cross into the box that Kate Pellegrino redirected passed Tars keeper Mary Spring.
It wasn't until the 78th minute that Rollins finally put it out of reach. McKee played a through ball to freshman McKenzie Ryan that Ryan chipped over the head of Regis keeper Brianna Randall. Randall replaced Augsburger after half.
In the loss, Regis outshot the Tars 22-8 and also took twice as many corner kicks, six compared to Rollins' three.
