PENSACOLA, Fla, (September 9, 2012) - No. 16 Rollins just couldn't break through Sunday afternoon, falling to the 20th ranked North Georgia Saints, 1-0.
The Saints forward Sophia Matonak scored the game's only goal with a shot that flew past a diving Mary Spring.
The Tars put relentless pressure on the Saints all afternoon after falling behind early, even outshooting North Georgia 20-7, but just couldn't find the equalizer.
Rollins' best chance came in the 38th minute when senior Ali Schrader collected a pass at the top corner of the box and ripped a shot headed just under the crossbar. Unfortunately for the Tars, Saints keeper Mallory Sayre was able to get a fingertip on it and deflect it off the crossbar and up over the net.
The Tars will be back in action Wednesday, Sept. 12 when they play host to Eckerd. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. Fans can follow along with the action live on the Tars sports network on RollinsSports.com
