BOCA RATON, Fla. (September 15, 2012) - After both teams were locked in a scoreless tie for almost 88 minutes, it was the top ranked Fighting Knights that finally broke through, leaving the 23rd ranked Tars on the losing end of a 1-0 decision Saturday afternoon.
The Tars put relentless pressure on the Fighting Knights all afternoon who had only given up seven shots on goal all year before Saturday, rattling off nine shots, seven of which were on target, but just couldn't find the back of the net.
Rollins' best chance came in the 77th minute when freshman Walker Hume headed a cross from just outside the goal mouth that seemed to be headed for the back of the net. Unfortunately for the Tars, Lynn defender James Aldred was at the right place at the right time for the Knights and stepped in front for what turned out to be a game saving play.
The game winner for Lynn came in the 87th minute when Julian Halder collected a pass at the top corner of the box from Kerst Lehman and struck it into the right netting for his team leading fifth goal of the season.
The Tars will be back in action Wednesday, Sept. 19 when they travel to Lakeland, Fla. to take on Florida Southern in a conference match up with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. Fans can follow along with all the action live on the Tars sports network at RollinsSports.com.
