LAKELAND, Fla. (September 19, 2012) - Looking to bounce back after suffering a loss in their conference opener last Saturday, the Tars did just that and in a big way, dominating Florida Southern, 5-0, behind four different goal scorers.
Sophomore Rob Crowley opened the scoring in the 15th minute with his first goal of the night, collecting a failed clearance by Florida Southern just inside the top of the box and rifled it past Mocs keeper Andrew Guzman into the back of the net.
Crowley added his second 15 minutes later when teammates Brett Durrance and Tucker Hume started the Tars break down the right side. Hume then found the Unionville, Pa. native open inside the far corner of the box where he delivered his team leading sixth goal of the season.
Rollins extended their lead shortly after the halftime break when a through ball from Crowley found Grant Blackhurst alone at the top of the box where Blackhurst chipped it over Guzman for his second career goal.
The Tars added two more in the waning minutes of game, first off a diving header by Tucker Hume in 82nd minute and then finally Phillip Shehan buried a cross from Joe Crowley with 21 seconds left on the game clock.
Rollins keeper Keneil Baker recorded his second clean sheet of the season, 16th career, collecting two saves.
The Tars outshot FSC 18-3 and while the Mocs took six corners compared to three for Rollins.
The Tars will be back in action Wednesday, Sept. 26 when they host Florida Tech with kickoff set for 7:30 pm.
