LAKELAND, Fla. (September 19, 2012) - Looking to right the ship after a slow start in 2012, the Rollins women's soccer team picked up a momentum building win Wednesday evening, besting Florida Southern, 1-0.
Locked in a scoreless tie for just over 70 minutes, freshman McKenzie Ryan notched her second career goal, first career game winner, to put the Tars ahead for good.
Senior Ali Schrader started the Rollins break down the near sideline. She then found a streaking Laura Piedrahita outside the near corner of the box who then found Ryan who struck it into the left netting for the goal.
In goal, Mary Spring recorded her first career shutout, collecting five saves. For the Mocs, keeper Erin Moseley also had five saves in the loss
In the win, the Tars outshot FSC 9-8 and took five corner kicks compared to three for the Mocs.
The Tars will be back in action Wednesday, Sept. 26 when they host Florida Tech with kickoff set for 5 pm.
