DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (September 21, 2012) - The Rollins cross country teams competed in an added meet Friday, running at the Embry-Riddle Asics Classic in Daytona Beach.
Led by two-time SSC Runner of the Week Lauryn Falcone, the Tars women finished fifth of the 12 teams, while the men took 11th of 13 squads competing.
Falcone posted her best time of the season, stopping the clock at 18:58 and finishing second. Ellie Staker of the host Eagles won in a time of 18:43.
Coming off an injury the first week of the season, Justine Falcone had a solid run, finishing seventh in 20:03. Sarah Ankli took 28th in 21:18. Mary-Ellen Garner was 51st in 22:31, Danielle Rioux was 58th (23:19) and Fran Champin 65th (24:01).
Jessica Deese turned in a time of 26:05 and was 84th, Emily Hendrix was right on her heels in 86th (26:44) and Sarah Dobish was 100th (29:48).
As a team, the Tars women totaled 123 points with winner Embry-Riddle earning 47.
On the men's side, Rollins totaled 288 points. Kyle Sawyer paced the team with a 44th place finish in 30:53. Dan Mazur was 69th in 32:43 and Joe Skydel took 81st in 34:07.
Matt Boggs finished 84th in a time of 35:12 and C.J. Dunn was 99th in 39:16.
Rollins will be back on the course on Friday, Sept. 28 at the FLrunners.com Invitational in Titusville.
