WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 3, 2012) - On a wet night in Winter Park, the Tars (6-4-0, 3-1-0) picked up their fourth win in a row, besting Nova Southeastern at home, 2-1.
Rollins wasted no time coming out of the gate Wednesday night, taking a 1-0 lead in 12th minute courtesy of sophomore Emma Jones' first goal of the season. Jones collected a misplayed ball by the keeper and slotted it home for the goal.
The Tars carried the one goal lead into the half, outshooting the Sharks 12-3 in the period.
Nova SE found the equalizer in the 54th minute on a diving header by Dilja Olafsdottir. Olafsdottir found space in the box and headed the corner kick from Stephanie Moench past a diving Mary Spring to pull the Sharks even.
Fittingly, the game winner came from the Tars leading scorer this season, Azure Dorsey, in the 60th minute. A through ball played by Jones set up Dorsey one on one with Sharks keeper Michelle Fuerst. The Rio Rancho, N.M. native slid it past Fuerst's outstretched hand just inside the far post for the goal. It was Dorsey's sixth of the year.
In the win, the reigning SSC Defensive Player of the Week Spring recorded two saves in 90 minutes.
The Tars will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 6th when they travel to Barry. Fans can follow along with all the action live on the Tars Sports Network on RollinsSports.com.
