WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 6, 2012) - The Rollins volleyball team silenced the Saint Leo Lions in a straight-sets victory (25-23, 25-22, 25-23) Saturday afternoon at Warden Arena.  The Tars improve to 9-8 on the season and 3-3 in conference play.

Slowly making a comeback on the court is Megan Hodges as she led the Tars offense with 12 kills, to go along with two digs and one block.  Kelly Merideth added nine kills, while hitting at a team-high .421 clip.  Merideth also posted 10 digs and one block.

Kiana Parks picked up her second straight and fourth double-double of the season with 19 assists and 11 digs.  Freshman April Jackson shared the floor with Parks as she registered 17 assists with three digs.

In Saturday's opening set against the Lions, the frame saw 11 ties and six lead changes.  After a 4-all tie, Saint Leo (6-7, 0-6) took the lead, but was slowly relinquished after the Tars went on a 5-1 run to take a 14-13 lead on a kill by Hodges.  The score bounced back and forth, but the Tars rallied once again to come from a three-point deficit and tied the score at 21-all on another kill by Hodges.  Rollins took the lead on a kill from Camille Indest and finished the set on a 3-1 run and a Jill Lau kill.

In the following set, Rollins led from start to finish, hitting a .343 as a team and held Saint Leo to a .136 hitting percentage.  Merideth registered five of her nine kills in the frame.

In the final set of the match, Rollins had to work their way from behind, tying the score at 22-all on a kill by Hodges.  Saint Leo regained the lead, but would be short-lived as back-to-back errors by the Lions would give Rollins the advantage and match point.  Another SLU error would hand the Tars the win and match.  Hodges recorded six of her 12 kills in the final set.

A trio of Lions led the Saint Leo offense as Lauren Campbell registered 11 kills, while Meghan Donovan and Sami Vierk each added 10.  Libero Molly Alexander chipped in with 14 digs.

Rollins ends the near of the first half of their conference slate with a mid-week contest against Florida Tech on Wednesday, Oct. 10.  Match time for Wednesday's road match is set for 7 p.m.  Fans can catch all the action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
