MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (October 6, 2012) - Led by a pair of sophomores, the Tars (7-4-0, 4-1-0) hung on to preserve an early lead to win Saturday night, 3-2.

Winners of their last four games, and five of their last six, Rollins came into Saturday sitting alone in third in the SSC, just one point behind second place Eckerd. A win would likely move them ahead of the Tritons into second place.

The Tars put relentless pressure on the Bucs right out of the gates, taking a 3-0 lead just 28 minutes into the game.

Redshirt sophomore Brenna McKee opened the scoring in the 13th minute, collecting a cross from fellow sophomore Azure Dorsey and buried it for her fourth goal of the season.

Six minutes later, Dorsey, not to be outdone, also found the back of the net, collecting a rebound inside the box and slotted it home for her team, earning her seventh goal of the season. She continues to lead the Tars in goals for the year.

McKee then added her second of the night in the 28th minute. After receiving a pass from the right side from Laura Piedrahita, McKee turned and took advantage of a defender losing her footing, sliding it past keeper Becca Rodgers to put Rollins ahead, 3-0.

Just when it seemed like Barry was ready to roll over, sophomore Sara Karna added her first and second goals of the year, both coming on breakaways, first in the 33rd minute and then again in the 42nd to pull the Bucs back within a goal going into half.

With lightning looming in the distance, both teams continued to exchange punches in the second half but neither would score, ending the game with Rollins on top, 3-2.

Tars keeper Mary Spring recorded three saves in 90 minutes in goal for Rollins, while both Dorsey and Piedrahita were credited with assists in the win.

The Tars will be back in action Wednesday, Oct. 10th when they host Tampa. Fans can follow along with all the action live on the Tars Sports Network on RollinsSports.com.
