PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (October 9, 2012) - The Rollins men's golf team shot a three-round score of 884 to tie them for fifth at the conclusion of the Guy Harvey Invitational on Tuesday at the PGA National Resort and Spa.
With play suspended Monday due to darkness, the Tars wrapped up the second round earlier this morning, turning in a score of 300. Rollins then carded a 293 to finish with a combined score of 884, tying Rollins with Sunshine State Conference rival Florida Southern.
Host Nova Southeastern took home their first Guy Harvey Invitational title as they carded rounds of 279, 282 and 287 for an 848 and a 10-stroke lead over second place Barry (858). Lynn took third place with an 872, while Eckerd placed fourth with an 881 to wrap up the top five.
Charlie Fitzgerald led the Tars squad as he finished with a 217 (69-75-73) to tie him for 12th. Tyler Sluman and Scott Lamb each turned in scores of 221 to tie them for 23rd. Newcomer Thomas Gouveia tied for 42nd with a 227, while Davis Hall finished two strokes behind with a 229 to tie him for 47th.
The Tars will be back in action in one week as they head to Florence, Ala. for the TVA Credit Union Classic hosted by the University of North Alabama on Oct. 15-16.
