WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 10, 2012) - A stunning bicycle kick goal by Walker Hume led the Tars to a 2-1 overtime win over SSC rival Tampa Wednesday evening, avenging a loss in their last meeting back on Sept. 29.
It was Tampa who took the early lead with a goal by Andrew Clare in the 19th minute. Clare collected a rebound in traffic and slotted it home for his second goal of the season.
It wasn't until the second period when Rollins found the equalizer. Reigning SSC Offensive Player of the Week, Brett Durrance, collected a long throw in from Hume and buried it for his fifth goal of the year, also the third in his last three games.
Locked in the 1-1 tie at the end of regulation, the two teams headed to overtime.
It didn't take long in the extra period for Hume to deliver the jaw dropping goal. In the 91st minute, Hume took to the air and delivered the ball into the top corner of the net as Spartan keeper David Niepel watched helplessly from his spot.
Tars keeper Keneil Baker recorded five saves, the largest coming on a Tampa PK with less then three minutes left in regulation to extend the game, while Hume also tacked on an assist in the win.
The Tars will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 12th when they host Saint Leo. Fans can follow along with all the action live on the Tars Sports Network on RollinsSports.com.
