WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 13, 2012) - Senior Ali Schrader and sophomore Allie Holly each turned in career nights as the Tars defeated the Saint Leo Lions handily Saturday night, 5-0
Unbeaten in their last six, Rollins took the early 1-0 lead when Brenna McKee deflected a long ball played into the box by Holly past Lions keeper Abby Evans for her sixth goal of the year. McKee now trails fellow sophomore Azure Dorsey by one goal for the team lead.
The Tars added a second in the 39th minute when a rocket off the foot of Holly sailed past a defenseless Evans into the left side netting for her first goal of the year.
Coming out of the half, Schrader would then add her first and second goals of the season to extend the lead to 4-0. In the 49th minute Schrader collected a pass from Taylor Thigpen and ripped it top shelf. Her second then came just two minutes later off the assist from Holly.
But Schrader wasn't finished, she added her third just five minutes later from 30 yards out for her first career hat trick; she had twice before scored two goals. The Port Saint Lucie native now sits alone in eighth place on the Rollins career goals list with 19.
Mary Spring registered the shutout, her fifth of the season, collecting three saves on the night while Holly finished with a goal and three assists.
The Tars will be back in action Wednesday, Oct. 17th when they travel to Eckerd. Fans can follow along with all the action live on the Tars sports network at RollinsSports.com.
