BUIES CREEK, N.C. (October 22, 2012) - In the Tars' final tournament of the fall season, the second-ranked Rollins women's golf team stands in fourth after the first day of the Fighting Camel Fall Classic hosted by Campbell University. The Tars are the only Division II team competing in the fall classic.
Rollins carded an opening round score of 309 and then shot three strokes better in the following round for a 306 (615). Host Campbell University leads the 12-team tournament field with a two-round score of 592 (294-298).
Old Dominion is two strokes back of the Fighting Camels with a 594, while Longwood stands in third with a 605. Cal State Fullerton is in fifth with a 621 to round out the top five.
Leading the Tars after day one is Kayla Sciupider and Annie Dulman. The two are nine strokes over par with a 153.
One stroke back of Sciupider and Dulman is Clara Teixeira with a 10-over-par 154 (74-80) to tie her for 17th. Elin Marcsdottir and Kristen Garabedian stand in a four-way tie for 30th with a 159.
The Tars will conclude tournament play on Tuesday, Oct. 23 with the final 18 holes. Play will commence with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
