WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 27, 2012) - In a fitting send off for senior Daniel Salazar on senior night, 14th ranked Rollins defeated Florida Southern handily Saturday evening, 6-2.

Much like their last meeting back on Sept. 19 when the Tars dominated the Mocs 5-0, the Tars jumped out to the early lead courtesy of a free kick rocket off the foot of freshman Brett Durrance in the fifth minute. The goal was Durrance's seventh of the season, good for second on the team behind sophomore Rob Crowley's team leading eight.

Florida Southern would find the equalizer just over six minutes later when sophomore James Gibson headed the service from Clay Clingerman past Tars keeper Keneil Baker. The goal was Gibson's first of the year.

After heading to the half with a goal apiece, Rollins broke the tie just two minutes into the second period when freshman Grant Blackhurst beat Mocs keeper Brent Theriault far post for his fourth goal of the season. The play was setup after junior Philipp Schad collected a rebound in the box and found Blackhurst who had a step on FSC defender James Gibson.

Blackhurst would add another shortly after in the 50th minute after he found himself all alone inside the near side of the box, set up by well executed passes by Durrance and Schad down the right side of the field.

Rollins would then rattle off three straight goals in a span of just ten minutes. First by junior Alex Bisbee from the top of the box, then Durrance with his second of the night before Schad joined in with a goal of his own, deflecting a well-placed cross from senior Joe Crowley past Theriault.

The Mocs would add another in the 73rd minute but Rollins already had the game in hand, ending in a final score of 6-2.

The Tars will be back in action Tuesday, Oct. 30 in the opening round of the SSC Tournament. Be sure to check RollinsSports.com for match-ups and game times.
