ORLANDO, Fla. (October 29, 2012) - After a cold and windy day on the links, the No. 15 Tars stand in a four-way tie for sixth at their own McDonough Cup hosted at Rio Pinar Country Club. Rollins turned in scores of 305 and 297 for a score of 602 after the first day.
Tied with Georgia College, Columbus State and Florida Tech, the Tars shot eight strokes better in the second round, making their way into sixth. Rollins stood in 10th after the first round of play.
Nova Southeastern leads the 18-team tournament field with a two-round score of 585 (294-291). Lynn is in a close second, two strokes behind NSU, as they shot a 299 in the opening round and a low second round of 288 (585). Florida Southern is in third (593) while Mount Olive College is fourth (596) and Valdosta State in fifth (597).
Individually, three are tied for first in Rollins' Davis Hall, NSU's Ben Taylor and Mount Olive's Mark O'Hara. The trio shot an even par after the first day.
Tied for 14th is senior Scott Lamb as he carded a 77 and 71 for a 148. Charlie Fitzgerald and Thomas Gouveia are tied for 55th with a 155 while newcomer Emil Sorebo totaled a 164. Competing individually is Felipe Quiroga and has shot a two-round score of 158.
The Tars will wrap up their fall schedule on Tuesday, Oct. 30 as they play the final 18 holes. Tee time is set for 8:20 a.m.
