WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 30, 2012) - Rollins senior Lauryn Falcone became the first Tar to be named Sunshine State Conference Runner of the Year, it was announced Tuesday.
Falcone earned All-SSC honors for the third time in her career and is finishing off the most successful season in program history. She placed in the top-10 in all six events this season, including a victory and two runner-up finishes.
The Somers, Conn. native won the Jim Ryun Invitational and was second at the Embry-Riddle Invitational and flrunners.com Invitational. At the Rollins-hosted SSC Championships, she placed third with a 6k time of 22:16.30. Her best 5k time of the season was 18:27.8.
Falcone was named the SSC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week presented by VALIC five times on the season.
Falcone will next participate in the NCAA Division II South Region, hosted by Alabama-Huntsville on Saturday, Nov. 3. Should she finish in the top-five, Falcone would become the first Rollins runner to advance to the NCAA Division II National Championship.
