No. 15 Tars Wrap up Fall in Fourth at McDonough Cup

ORLANDO, Fla. (October 30, 2012) - The No. 15 Rollins men's golf team concluded the fall season in a tie for fourth at their own McDonough Cup hosted at Rio Pinar Country Club.  The Tars shot a 298 in the final round to bring them to an overall score of 900.

Lynn University jumped one spot to take the tournament title, three strokes ahead of runner-up Nova Southeastern.  The Fighting Knights totaled a score of 877 while the Sharks came in second with an 880.  LU's Daniel Young, who won a five-player playoff, took individual medalist honors with a 218, after shooting a low third round of 70.

Those tied for first in the playoff included Young, Ben Taylor (NSU), Mark O'Hara (Mt. Olive), Patrick Garrett (Georgia College) and Ernesto Vitienes (Lynn).

Sophomore Davis Hall led the squad with a 3-over-par 219 (72-72-75); Hall tied for sixth.  Scott Lamb tied for 10th with a three-round score of 221.

Charlie Fitzgerald, who was tied for 55th after the first day, moved to a tie for 36th with an overall score of 229.  The red-shirt senior shot a 74 in the final round.  Thomas Gouveia moved one spot up to a tie for 54th with a 233 while Emil Sorebo turned in a 76 in the final round for a 240.

Felipe Quiroga was the only Tar to compete individually and tallied a three-round score of 240.
