MELBOURNE, Fla. (May 17, 2017) – Rollins placed five players on the All-Sunshine State Conference Baseball team, it was announced Tuesday. Peter Nicoletto, Christopher Corbett, and Brad Case achieved First Team All-SSC nods, while Caleb Jakes, and AJ Chacon picked up second team honors.      

Nicoletto ended the year with a .338 batting average. The senior from Fort Lauderdale, Florida started in all 50 games for the Tars this season. The outfielder generated 69 hits, including 16 doubles, nine triples, and 11 homeruns to go along with 42 RBI. Nicoletto broke the Rollins all-time triples record, and tied the career SSC mark, with 25 in his career. 

Corbett receives All-SSC accolades for the second consecutive season, making an All-SSC Second Team appearance last year. Corbett led the Tars with .349 batting average. The Tars' catcher tallied 53 hits, including 10 doubles, three triples, and nine home runs. The Stokesdale, N.C. native managed to drive in 35 RBI, and maintain a .632 slugging percentage.   

Case made 14 appearances on the year, all were starts. The sophomore compiled a 5-5 record, to go along with a 3.57 ERA. The Pelham N.Y. native struck out 102 batters on the year throughout 90.2 innings pitched. Both were good for second best in the SSC.

Jakes appeared in 21 games for the Tars, mostly as a relief pitcher, but also making six starts. The Junior compiled a 2.52 ERA, with four wins, and a save. Jakes pitched 60.2 innings and dished out 65 strikeouts.   

Chacon was the only freshman to receive All-SSC recognition. The Lutz, Fla. native was able to generate six wins in his first year, with a 4.11 ERA. He made 17 appearances with 11 starts on the mound, pitching 70 innings throughout the year, and registering 57 strikeouts.
