GUILDFORD, England – Rollins women's lacrosse alumni Taylor and Tyler Thomas represented the Stars and Stripes at the FIL Rathbones Women's Lacrosse World Cup, playing in the Women's Open Division, last week.

The sisters played on the Division 1 team, which consisted of a select group of current Division I and Division II players and recently graduates.

Team USA finished the tournament with a record of 10-1-1, taking home the silver medal.  They competed against teams from around the world including Germany, Wales, Ireland, England, and Japan.  England's Developmental National Team were crowned the Open Division Champions.

The Rollins duo made a significant contribution to the Red, White, and Blue.  The sisters notched 16 goals, nine assists, five draw controls, 10 ground balls, and seven caused turnovers combined, over the 12 game stretch.

Tyler recalls thinking her initial invitation to tryout was a joke, saying she deleted the first e-mail.  However, looking back she says, “I, personally, loved the experience because I got to meet players from all over the world, and see their style of lacrosse. Additionally, it was really cool to become teammates and friends with girls I had never met before, even if they went to "rival" schools.”

The twin sisters graduated from Rollins in 2016, after decorated lacrosse careers that saw them lead the Tars' women's lacrosse program to new heights.
