WINTER PARK, Fla. (August 11, 2017) – Entering their second season under the tutelage of Head Coach Mika Robinson, the Rollins volleyball team is set to face plenty of tough competition throughout their 2017 campaign.

Full 2017 Rollins Volleyball Schedule

The Tars are set to square up against 29 different opponents this season, with 13 home, 10 away contests, and six neutral site matches set to take place.  Of the 29 regular season games on the docket, three will be against teams that finished ranked on the final AVCA DII Coaches Poll of the season.  Five games will be against opponents the Tars have yet to face in their nine-year history as a varsity program. 

Special dates to note this season begin with Friday, Sept. 15, when the Tars welcome back all Rollins Volleyball Alumni to Warden Arena for their match against Florida Tech.   Saturday, Sept. 30, marks Parents' Day for Rollins Volleyball as the Tars host the University of Tampa, followed by their annual Dig Pink game on Friday, Oct. 27, as Rollins takes on Eckerd.  The Tars' special dates wrap up on Saturday, Nov. 11, when the team honors their teammates with a Senior Day celebration on their final home game of the regular season.

Rollins kicks off its 2017 campaign on the road, traveling to Golden, Colo. to participate in the 2017 Courtyard and Residence Inn by Marriott Oredigger Volleyball Classic, hosted by the Colorado School of Mines.  The Tars open their slate on Friday, Sept. 1, squaring off against Norther State University at 1 p.m. (EST), followed by a match against Eastern New Mexico State University at 9:30 p.m. (EST).

The Tars continue their season opening weekend on Saturday, Sept. 2, when they face Colorado Mesa to open Day Two of the Oredigger Volleyball Classic.  Game time against the Mavericks is slated for 1 p.m. (EST), followed by a 5:30 p.m. (EST) match against Western New Mexico University to close out their invitational appearance.

The following weekend marks the Tars' home opener as they host the 2017 Rollins College Invitational where they welcome Bentley University, University of Puerto Rico – Mayaguez, Georgia College, and Eckerd College to Warden Arena.  The Tars take on Georgia College in their home opener on Friday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m., followed by a two match slate on Saturday, Sept. 9, where they will take on UPR-Mayaguez at 2:30 p.m., and Bentley at 7 p.m.

Rollins dives right into Sunshine State Conference action the next weekend as they take on Florida Tech (Sept. 15) and Palm Beach Atlantic (Sept. 16) in a weekend series.  A trip to the Gulf Coast is set for the following weekend as the Tars travel to take on Saint Leo (Sept. 22), and Eckerd (Sept. 23) in SSC action.

A busy week ensues as the Tars prepare for a three-match home stand beginning with an SSC showdown against Embry-Riddle on Tuesday, Sept. 26, followed by Florida Southern on Friday, Sept 29, and Tampa on Saturday, Sept. 30 to cap off the stretch.

The Tars take to the road to open the month of October, traveling south to square up against conference foes Barry (Oct. 6) and Nova Southeastern (Oct 7).  The weekend marks the Tars' final tune-up before they head to Hoover, Ala. For the 2017 South Region Crossover the next weekend, where Rollins will take on members of the Gulf South Conference to be announced closer to the tournament dates.

After the South Region Crossover concludes, Rollins returns to SSC action, traveling to take on PBA for a mid-week clash on Tuesday, October 17.  The comfy confines of Warden Arena welcome back the Tars for a Thursday night home match against Lynn University, followed by another road trip on Tuesday, Oct. 24, when the Tars travel to take on Florida Tech.

The month of October wraps up with three more matches, including a weekend slate against Eckerd (Oct. 27), and Saint Leo (Oct. 28), followed by a Tuesday night road game at Embry-Riddle on Oct. 31.  November gets under way with Rollins squaring up against tough competition away from home as they take on Tampa (Nov. 3) and Florida Southern (Nov. 4) on the road.  But the Tars return home for one last home stand, welcoming Nova Southeastern (Nov. 10) and Barry (Nov. 11) to Winter Park to close out their regular season home schedule.

One last match awaits the Tars for their 2017 regular season slate, with the Tars traveling to Boca Raton, Fla. to take on Lynn University on Friday, Nov. 17. 

Post season play is scheduled to begin with Regional Tournaments from Nov. 30 to Dec. 2, and the NCAA Championships slated for Dec. 7 – 9 in Pensacola, Fla.
