QUICK LINKS
ATLANTA, Ga. (March 19, 2012) - Rollins sophomore forward Ashley Jones was tabbed Honorable Mention All-America, it was announced by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Monday.

Jones and the Tars were given the news at the NCAA Division II Elite Eight championship banquet where Rollins will be vying for its first national title, beginning Tuesday night.

Since transferring from Mississippi State at the beginning of the season, Jones has made an immediate impact for the Tars. She leads the team with 11.9 points while adding 3.8 rebounds in just 23 minutes per game. The Lake Howell High School product posted 19 double-digit scoring games and eclipsed 20 points four times. She tallied a career high 30 points against Barry on Jan. 18, draining a program record eight-of-10 from the 3-point line.

During the Tars' NCAA Tournament run, Jones is averaging 13.3 points and 5.3 rebounds a night. She hung 21 points on Delta State, all in the second half, in Rollins' South Region semifinal victory, and then hit the eventual game-winning 3-pointer against Valdosta State in the championship game. Jones was named to the NCAA Division II South Region All-Tournament team.

Jones is the fifth Tar to be named All-America, joining Kim Tayrien, Jill Razor, Joslyn Giles and Larissa McDonough.

Rollins faces Lander University on Tuesday, March 20 in the final game of the first day at the 2012 NCAA Division II Elite Eight, hosted by St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. Tipoff is slated for 9:30 p.m. Eastern. Fans can watch all the action on NCAA.com or listen live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com and locally on 91.5 FM, WPRK.
