LAKELAND, Fla. (April 27, 2012) - After dropping the series opener to Florida Southern Friday night, the Tars returned to Lakeland, Fla. looking to right the ship. The day started as planned as 14^th ranked Rollins took game one in extra innings, 4-3, behind a solid pitching performance by sophomore Amye McIntyre but dropped the rubber match, 8-2, thanks to sloppy play and mental errors.

The Mocs got off to the early lead in game one, scoring one in the first on a Rollins miscue to take the 1-0 lead.

The one run lead would hold until the fourth when the Tars scored a run of their own to tie the score at 1-1. After a two out double by senior Monica Meadows, a dropped fly by the Mocs allowed her to come around to score Rollins' first run of the afternoon.

FSC then took the lead once again in their half of the frame, scoring one on another error committed by the Tars defense.

The Tars would plate two in the top of the sixth to take the lead, both unearned with two outs courtesy of FSC's second error of the afternoon. Aimee Halpin and Krista Rodden both had hits in the frame with Rodden picking up an RBI on a ground rule double to right center.

Rollins took their 3-2 lead into the seventh and found themselves one out away from the win with runners on first and second, bringing up Mocs pitcher Christine Clark. Clark sent a ground ball back to McIntyre but her throw was low and in the dirt to first baseman Halpin, allowing the runner to score from second and tie the score at 3-3.

It took two innings of extras for the Tars to break the tie. Meadows led off Rollins' ninth with her second double of the afternoon and came around to score on a two out RBI single by senior Meredith Foster.

McIntyre (13-4) sat the Mocs down in order in the bottom of the inning to earn the win, giving up three run, zero earned, on five hits.

Clark (25-9) suffered the loss, giving up four runs, one earned, also on five hits in nine innings of work.

Meadows went 2-4 in game one with three runs scored.

Game two started in similar fashion with FSC scoring one in the first to take the early lead off of Tars' game two starter Hope Bitzer.

Rollins quickly answered with a run in the second, a solo home run by Rodden, to tie things up but not for long.

The Mocs went on to score five runs in the bottom of the frame on four hits and two more Tars errors to take the 6-1 lead after two.

The Tars pulled back within four in the third when Halpin came all the way around to score on a costly error by FSC right fielder Khaliah Brown but that's as close as they would come the rest of the way.

The Mocs went on to add two more in fourth and that would do it for the scoring for both teams as the game ended with an 8-2 final in favor of Florida Southern.

Clark (26-9) took the win, giving up two runs, one earned, on five hits in seven innings pitched.

Bitzer (20-5) was credited with the loss, giving up six runs, two earned, on six hits in three innings pitched.

Junior Hannah Lovestrand went 2-3 at the plate for Rollins in game two.

The Tars will return to action Saturday, April 28^th in a double header against visiting Albany St. with game one scheduled for 2 pm. Saturday's double header also marks senior day where five Rollins seniors will be honored between games for all they have contributed to Rollins Athletics in their perspective careers. *Notes: Rollins hit doubles number 105 and 106 in Friday's double header, setting a new team record, passing previous team high of 104
