WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 30, 2012) - The NCAA Division II Softball Committee has selected the 64 teams that will participate in the 2012 NCAA Division II Softball Championship. Four teams will participate at each of 16 regional sites in double-elimination tournaments. Regional competition will be held May 4-6.
The Tars (40-9) will serve as the No. 4 seed in the South Region Tournament and will travel to Valdosta, GA. where top-seeded Valdosta St. (48-3) will play host to Rollins, fifth-seed Ala.-Huntsville (41-14), and SIAC champion, eighth-seed Miles (29-26). The Tars will face fifth-seed Ala.-Huntsville on May 4th with game time set for 4:30pm E.T.
Winners will advance to the super regionals May 11-12. The finals will be held May 16-19 at Knights Field in Louisville, Ky., and will be hosted by Bellarmine and the Louisville Sports Commission.
Rollins has won 16 of their last 19 heading into the tournament, including sweeps of Eckerd, Saint Leo, and Florida Tech as well as a series win over then sixth ranked Barry
The Tars finished the regular season 40-9, 19-5 in the SSC to finish in a tie for second place with Barry. It was Coach Michelle Frew's seventh 40 win regular season her career at Rollins.
