CONOVER, N.C. (May 9, 2012) - Rollins totaled 297 strokes Wednesday to finish 11th at the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament. The Tars score of 889 was just one back of the top-10 and nine off a national tournament bid.
Spencer Cole led Rollins, finishing in a tie for 11th with 217 strokes. The senior carded rounds of 73 and 71 on the first two days and closed with another 73 Wednesday. On final round, he totaled three birdies, including one on the par-three third.
Tyler Sluman, Scott Lamb and Hunter Stone all tied for 44th place with 224 strokes. Sluman hung rounds of 73-75-76 while Lamb carded 72-78-74 and Stone 73-77-74.
Davis Hall totaled 242 strokes and took 107th place (77-80-85).
Georgia College won the tournament atop a tight leaderboard. The Bobcats (869) beat second place Barry by one stroke (870) and third place Nova Southeastern by three (872).
Matt Atkins of South Carolina-Aiken shot three-straight rounds of 70 to post a one stroke win over the field with 210 strokes. Georgia Southwestern's J.P. Griffin, GCSU's Taylor Smith and Ben Taylor of Nova Southeastern tied for second with 211 strokes.
