LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 17,2012)- The Rollins women's lacrosse team could not overcome a slow start in their first NCAA appearance, falling to West Chester 19-10 in the national semifinal, Thursday morning.

The Tars making their first NCAA Tournament appearance started the game out on a strong note, as Sophie Townsend notched the game's first goal 97 seconds in. This would be the only lead Rollins would have before the Golden Rams started their offensive surge. After establishing the early lead the Tars kept the pressure on West Chester, controlling the tempo and keeping possession away from the Golden Rams.

Neither team would score another goal until five minutes later when Erin Oczkowski drove to the net and collected one of her four goals on the afternoon. Both teams would battle for the next four minutes until Jacki Patterson buried one of her three goals to give the Golden Rams a lead they would not relinquish.

After another scoreless set of play, West Chester scored five of the next seven goals to end the first half with a 7-3 lead. Ginevra Czech and Erica Pagliarulo notched the goals for the Tars to keep the deficit at a manageable margin.

Coming out of the break Rollins tried to establish their tactical game and were rewarded with a Townsend goal to draw back within three with 25 minutes to play, but that would be the closest the Tars would come as West Chester notched 10 of the next 11 goals to push the margin to 12.

Rollins was not done yet as the Tars responded with four unanswered goals to close the deficit to eight, but West Chester sealed the victory with two late goals to propel them into the Championship game.

Townsend and Pagliarulo were the only Tars to record multi-goal efforts with the duo combining to tally five goals between them and Czech led the way with two assists. Between the pipes Elyse De Lisle collected seven saves as she face 30 shots from the relentless attack from West Chester.
