WINTER PARK, Fla. (May 24, 2012)- The Rollins women's lacrosse team garnered five selections on the IWLCA All-American Team with Courtney Bianculli and Erica Pagliarulo receiving first team nods, while Elyse De Lisle, Katie Palasz and Sophie Townsend were selected to the second team, it was announced this Wednesday evening.

Bianculli added another accolade to her postseason resume, notching her first selection to the All-American Team. The Setauket, N.Y. native made a strong impression on the Tars defense in 2012 as the junior ranked 12th in the country in caused turnovers and was fourth in ground balls. As part of a staunch defense she helped the Tars post the fourth best scoring defense in the country.

Joining Bianculli on the first team was Pagliarulo, who enjoyed one of her best offensive seasons in the Blue and Gold. The Winchester, Mass. Native scored 46 goals and notched five assists for a total of 51, which was second best on the team.

De Lisle, Palasz and Townsend all notched second team honors as the trio was vital to the success and helped the program reach new heights including 15 consecutive victories and a program best record of 15-2. De Lisle was a solid presence between the pipes with the sophomore picking up 14 victories and posting an impressive 7.89 goals against average and a .465 save percentage. De Lisle gave the Tars a net presence, which had been something the Tars had been lacking in years past.

Palasz also helped make life difficult for opposing offenses with her long reach, speed and understanding of the game. She ranked in the Top 10 nationally in caused turnovers and ground balls, while giving the Tars a leadership presence from her defender spot.

Townsend added her first selection to the All-American team with a stellar 2012 campaign. The Ocean City, Md. Native gave opposing defense's nightmares as the junior torched the net with 40 goals, which placed her second on the team and racked up five assists. Her greatest asset was the ability to run the offense and setup her teammates.
